Not Included: Service charge of 18% (this will be distributed to all of the employees at the end of the season), state and local taxes of 6.8%, day care for children under five, guided fishing (unless noted on your invoice), golf green fees, flies, beer, wine and alcohol, fishing licenses.
Travel Logistics:
Arrival Information To get to 4UR Ranch you will need to make travel arrangements to Creede, Colorado. The lodge is located about 7 miles from Creede
Getting to the Lodge: Most guests fly into Denver, Albuquerque, or Colorado
Springs, in that order, where they will rent a car. Since the ranch is large a car is important, especially for those interested in fishing. Four-wheel drive cars are popular but not essential. Alternatively, guests may fly into the Alamosa airport. Complimentary transportation is available from the Creede airstrip and the Regional Airport in Alamosa.
Departure Information: On your departure day you will leave the ranch after breakfast. Check out time is 10AM.
Approximate Driving Times to 4UR Ranch: Denver airport: 5 hours • Albuquerque: 5 hours • Colorado Springs: 4 hours • Santa Fe: 4 hours.
Travel Cash:
4UR Ranch is happy to accept credit cards for any charges incurred during your stay. As such, travel cash is entirely at your discretion.
Gratuities:
A service charge of 18% will be added to your bill at the end of your stay and will be divided among the staff at the end of the season. Incidental gratuities during your stay will not be expected.
Fishing Licenses:
Fishing licenses are not included. Please be prepared to pay for these on-site with cash or credit card. See itinerary for details.
Climate:
Temperatures typically range from the mid 50’s to the mid 90’s. In the summer it is usually quite warm during the day and cool in the evening. Afternoon thundershowers are common. However, it is important for guests to be prepared for cold rainy conditions throughout the season.
Medical Facilities:
The closest medical facility is in Del Norte, approximately 30 minutes from the lodge. Guests have the responsibility to disclose any special medical, physical, or dietary needs to the lodge ahead of time.
Power and Communications:
Cell phones do not work at the ranch, however you can usually get cell phone coverage about ½ way to Creede (about 4 miles equals ½ way). The ranch provides a phone that you may use for long distance calls, provided that you use a phone calling card. They sell 60 minute phone cards at their store.
4UR has wireless internet access as well as a central computer for guests to use to check their emails.
Clothing:
In the Rockies it is always possible to encounter a wide variety of weather conditions. We recommend that you always come well prepared with different layers including lightweight long sleeve and short-sleeved shirts, fleece top and bottoms, synthetic long underwear, rain jacket, sun and rain hats and fishing gloves. Evening attire at the lodge is casual.
Laundry:
4UR Ranch has complimentary self-service laundry and soap. Laundry service is available daily; check with your housekeeping staff for details and cost.
Beverages/Alcohol:
Per Colorado law, outside alcoholic beverages (including personal wine) may NOT be brought into their restaurant, however, the ranch offers an excellent selection of wines and liquor.
Tackle/Equipment List:
Rods: 8-9 foot rods for 2 - 6 weight lines. The staples are rods in 3-5 weight.
Lines: Floating lines, weight forward or double tapered.
Reels: Any quality single action fly reel with 50 yards of 20 lb backing.
Leaders: 9 ft to 12 ft leaders in 4x - 6x. Bring additional tippet in the same diameters.
Flies: Dries: Adams Tan and Grey #16-20, Caddis Black and Tan, assorted hoppers in #12-#8. Nymphs: Black Stone #8, Prince #14-18, Bird’s Nest #14-18, Morrish Anato-Mays #16-20 Pheasant tails #14-18, Sparkle Pupae tan and green #16-18. Streamers: brown, black, and olive weighted woolley buggers in # 4-8 as well as white streamers and assorted sculpin patterns. Note: There is a well-stocked fly shop located at the Lodge.
Waders & Boots: Lightweight breathable waders are recommended. Neoprene socks are recommended when wet wading. Please, no studded wading boots. The lodge has a limited supply of waders and a large selection of fishing supplies in their store.
