Not Included: Alcohol, staff and guide gratuities, fishing licenses, terminal tackle like flies, leaders, indicators.
Travel Logistics:
Arrival Information: Although most people drive to Clearwater Lodge, the nearest commercial airport is in Redding (1.5 hours by car) and a private airstrip is available in Fall River Mills.
Getting to the Lodge: It is 8 miles east on Highway 299 from the intersection of State Highways 299 and 89 and 4 miles west of Fall River Mills. Their lighted sign marks the turn-off onto the “Pit One Powerhouse Road”. They are 70 miles east of Interstate 5 at Redding and 160 miles north of Reno via State Highways 395/44/89.
Departure Information: On your departure day you will leave the lodge at your leisure after breakfast.
Documentation Requirements:
Clearwater requires that guests sign a Release of Liability and Assumption of Risk form on-site.
Travel Cash:
As a guideline we recommend that each guest travels with approximately $500 - $700 for staff & guide gratuities, alcohol, licenses, etc.
Gratuities:
We recommend guide gratuities of $50-$75 per day if you are happy with your guide and these may be given to your guide at the end of each day. There will be an optional gratuity (12% accommodations charge) added to your reservation on check-out for the house staff, including chefs and housekeepers.
Fishing Licenses:
Fishing licenses are not included. Please be prepared to pay for these on-site with cash or credit card.
Climate:
Temperatures typically range from the mid 50’s to the mid 90’s. In the summer it is usually quite warm during the day and cool in the evening. However, it is important for guests to be prepared for cold or rainy conditions throughout the season.
Medical Facilities:
The closest medical facility is in Fall River Mills, approximately 6 miles from the lodge. Guests have the responsibility to disclose any special medical, physical, or dietary needs to the lodge ahead of time.
Power and Communications:
Wireless internet service is available.
Clothing:
In the Pacific Northwest it is always possible to encounter a wide variety of weather conditions. We recommend that you always come well prepared with different layers including lightweight long sleeve and short-sleeved shirts, fleece top and bottoms, synthetic long underwear, rain jacket, sun and rain hats and fishing gloves. Evening attire at the lodge is casual.
Laundry:
Laundry service is not available. Please pack accordingly.
Beverages/Alcohol:
Beer and wine can be purchased at the lodge. Beer and wine will be available on the table in the main lobby starting at approximately 5:00PM. Guests track their orders on an honor based notebook and can settle their bill upon check-out. Credit cards are accepted. Guests are also welcome to bring their own alcohol.
Tackle/Equipment List:
Rods: 9 foot rods for 4 - 6 weight lines.
Lines: Floating lines, weight forward or double tapered.
Reels: Any quality single action fly reel with 50 yards of 20 lb backing.
Leaders: 9 ft to 12 ft leaders in 4x - 6x. Bring additional tippet in the same diameters.
Waders & Boots: Lightweight breathable waders are recommended. Neoprene socks are recommended when wet wading.
Flies: Bring all of your standard trout patterns and know that the lodge is well stocked with the most effective local patterns (not included).
