Approximate driving times to Lonesome Duck Lodge: Medford: 1.5 hours / Portland: 4.5 hours / San Francisco: 6.5 hours

From the North on Highway 97: The turnoff to Lonesome Duck is between mile markers 252 and 253. Immediately after crossing the Williamson River (you will want to be in the left lane) watch for a break in the guardrail on the left. Follow the unpaved road through three cattle gates, leaving the gates in the same position as found. Turn left just after the third gate and go to the first log house for registration; it is marked "Office". (Note: the total length of this gravel road is approximately 1.5 miles.)

From the South on Highway 97: Approximately 20 miles north of Klamath Falls you will pass the Jeld-Wen Door factory. The turnoff to Lonesome Duck is about a half mile past Jeld-Wen. Highway 97 goes over the railroad tracks and as you are coming down the overpass look for a break in the guardrail on your right. This is after the “Divided Highway" & "Do Not Pass" signs and just before the Williamson River. For safety purposes have your right turn signal on, move to the right shoulder, and slow down as the driveway entrance turns sharply to the right. Follow the unpaved road through three cattle gates, leaving the gates in the same position as found. Turn left just after the third gate and go to the first log house for registration; it is marked "Office". (Note: the total length of this gravel road is approximately 1.5 miles.)

Travel Cash:
As a guideline we recommend that each guest travels with enough cash for guide gratuities.

Gratuities:
We recommend 10% to 15% of the package price to be given to the lodge manager on the last day of your stay.

Fishing Licenses:
The lodge sells single day licenses only, which are $12.00 per day.

Multiple day licenses can be purchased at the hardware store in Chiloquin (open 8:00AM - 5:30PM) or several locations in Klamath Falls: Fred Meyer, Walmart, etc.

Licenses can be purchased online at www.dfw.state.or.us/online_license_sales/.

Climate:
Temperatures typically range from the mid 50’s to the mid 90’s. In the summer it is usually quite warm during the day and cool in the evening. However, it is important for guests to be prepared for cold rainy conditions throughout the season.

Medical Facilities:
The closest medical facility is in Klamath Falls, approximately 30 minutes from the lodge. Guests have the responsibility to disclose any special medical, physical, or dietary needs to the lodge ahead of time.

Power and Communications:
There are no phones in the houses. Please check with your cell phone provider to determine coverage in this area.

Clothing:
As the climate is extremely changeable and a wide range of temperatures and conditions can be expected, we recommend layering clothes. Anglers should be prepared with thermal underwear, fleece/soft shell jacket, and a rain jacket. Synthetic fabrics are preferred to cotton.

Laundry:
Laundry service is not available. Please pack accordingly.

Beverages/Alcohol:
The lodge does not provide any beverages. Guests may bring in their own.

Tackle/Equipment List:
Rods: 9 ft. 6 weight is a good all around choice to cover most situations. For dry fly fishing a 5 weight will work but we still like to see 9 ft. rods. We like the longer rods because of the wind, long casts and mending.

Lines: Dry lines, uniform sink lines (sink rate depends on the time of year but a clear stillwater line gets used a wide part of the season). Sink tips are generally used early in the season when the water is high and off color (June).

Leaders: Leaders vary according to the time of year. 9 ft 3X in the spring/early summer; 12 ft. 4X midsummer; and from mid August through October 15 ft 5X leaders are not out of the ordinary.

Flies: Flies also vary according to time of year but good choices in nymphs are beadhead pheasant tail, beadhead prince nymphs and hares ear nymphs in sizes 14-18. Dry flies: blue wing olives 14-18, tricos (Aug. & early Sept.), caddis 14-18, woolly buggers and leaches in brown, olive and black sizes 12-6.
