Louisiana Redfishing Trip Details

Included / Not Included:
Included: Guided fishing, transportation to/from the water, all equipment and tackle.
Not Included: Airfare, accommodations and meals, staff & guide gratuities, alcohol, licenses.

Travel Logistics:
Arrival Information: To fish for redfish, you will need to make travel arrangements to New Orleans, Louisiana (Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport - MSY).
Getting to the Lodge: You will also need to arrange for accommodations in New Orleans (see above for recommendations) and transportation to your elected hotel.
Departure Information: On your departure day you will leave your hotel according to your travel plans (see itinerary for details).

Travel Cash:
As a guideline we recommend that each guest travels with enough cash for guide gratuities.

Gratuities:
A gratuity of $60-100 a day (for the boat) is a good guideline if you have enjoyed your time with your guide.

Fishing Licenses:
If you are coming from out-of-state (outside of Louisiana), please make arrangements to obtain a non-resident license (Code 79) before you arrive, based on the number of days you are fishing. The license can be purchased by calling toll free: 888.765.2602 (operators standing by 24/7; Visa or M/C only).

Note: You will receive a confirmation number. Please make sure you bring it along with you on the trip.

Climate:
Temperatures typically range from the low 60’s to the mid 90’s with humidity. Isolated afternoon thunder-showers are a possibility year-round. Wind can be factor while fishing and the sun is very strong.

Medical Facilities:
There are a number of hospitals and medical facilities in New Orleans including Tulane Medical Center.

Clothing:
Fishing slacks/shorts, silk weight underwear, long-sleeved shirts for fishing (SPF30+), fleece jacket, rain jacket with rain pants, gloves, non-slip boat shoes (Crocs work great), and fishing hat for sun and rain protection.

Tackle/Equipment List:
Please keep in mind that your guides will supply all rods/reels/leaders/tippet/flies. However, if you wish to bring your own:

Rods: 7-8-9-10 wt rods with an 8 or 9 weight working the best with windy conditions
Reels: Saltwater anodized reels with a drag
Fly Line: Weight Forward floating line (Scientific Angler’s Redfish line works great)
Leaders: IGFA class 4-8 & 20 Lb hand-tied leaders
Flies: Crab and shrimp patterns-Gregg likes gold and purple, white & purple, black & purple, chartreuse & purple, purple & red, blue & purple and purple. Greg has an assortment of flies on hand for you to use as well.
Fishing Accessories:
Polarized sun glasses (copper or yellow)
Waterproof boat bag
Eyeglass cleaner 
Insect repellent/sunscreen combo
Lip balm
The guides can also provide spinning gear for those who do not fly fish. In fact, on occasion guides have offered fly fishermen spinning gear to finish the day when conditions prohibited fly fishing.
