Travel Cash:
As a guideline we recommend that each guest travels with approximately $300 - $500 for staff & guide gratuities, etc.
Gratuities:
Guides should be tipped directly ($40 - $50) either at the end of each day or at the conclusion of your last day on the water. For the lodge staff we recommend between $25 - $40 per person per day (single) or $25 - $30 based on double occupancy. These tips can be given to the lodge manager or front desk attendant at the time of check out.
Fishing Licenses:
Anglers must purchase licenses ahead of time. Licenses can be purchased at www.dfw.state.or.us/online_license_sales/.
Climate:
In the Pacific Northwest the climate varies widely from day to day, hour to hour and season to season. Come prepared for everything. Mornings (even in the summer) are often cold and mid-day can be very hot. Always bring rain gear regardless of season.
Medical Facilities:
The closest medical facility is in Roseburg, approximately 45 minutes from the lodge. Guests have the responsibility to disclose any special medical, physical, or dietary needs to the lodge ahead of time.
Power and Communications:
There is no cell service at the lodge. There are phones in the cabins and suites but not in the cottages or houses. There is also a phone at the main lodge.
Clothing:
Dress at the lodge is casual. For fishing we recommend coming well prepared with layers including warm socks, polar fleece pullovers or sweaters, warm hat, warm fishing gloves, sun-gloves, sun hat, wet wading gear with neoprene socks for mid-summer, waterproof wading jacket, synthetic long underwear and fleece pants, quick dry clothing including shorts.
Laundry:
Laundry service is not available. Please pack accordingly.
Beverages/Alcohol:
Alcohol is not included in your package price. The lodge has a fine wine and beer selection for sale but is not licensed for hard alcohol. Guests may bring their own hard alcohol for in room consumption. Limited wine is included as part of the dinner.
Tackle/Equipment List:
Rods: 9-10 ft single hand rods for line weights 7-9. 12-15 ft two-handed spey rods for line weights 7-9.

Note: Tube flies and weighted flies of any sort are not allowed on the North Umpqua.
Waders & Boots: Breathable gore-tex waders are recommended. Due to the challenging nature of the streambed and wading, spikes/studded boots are strongly recommended as are wading belts and staffs. Anglers who choose to use breathable waders should bring several layers of mid/heavy weight fleece leggings. Bring gear for wet wading in July and August.
Miscellaneous: Sunscreen, lip balm, bandana, hemostats, tape measure, camera with spare batteries and film, and floatant.
