Tordrillo Mountain Lodge Trip Details
Included / Not Included:
Included: Accommodations and meals at the lodge, guided fishing as noted on your invoice, round-trip float-plane transportation from Anchorage or Talkeetna.
Not Included: Alaska sportfishing license, staff and guide gratuities, alcoholic beverages, extra fly-outs/guiding, massage services, satellite phone, helicopter guided activities, fishing tackle.
Travel Logistics:
Arrival Information: To get to Tordrillo Mountain Lodge you need to make flight arrangements to Anchorage, AK, arriving in the day before you arrive to the lodge. Overnight in Anchorage (hotel not included in package price).
Getting to the Lodge: In the morning you will take a float flight to the lodge. The flight takes approximately 40 minutes.
Departure Information: On your departure day you will take a morning float plane back to Anchorage. Guests may choose to overnight in Anchorage or continue home.
Documentation Requirements:
To participate in the activities at Tordrillo Mountain Lodge, guests will be required to sign a waiver form.
Travel Cash:
As a guideline we recommend that each guest travel with enough cash to cover staff & guide gratuities (see below). Bar tabs, licenses, and gift items can be taken care of with Visa, MC, or Amex, so you will not need to travel with a lot of cash.
Gratuities:
You will be provided with a tip sheet which specifies to whom and how much is recommended. We typically recommend a gratuity of 10-12% of the base package price. It is preferable to pay gratuities in cash, however, you may pay for them with a credit card. If paid by credit card tips will be taxed.
Fishing Licenses:
Fishing licenses are not included. Please plan to purchase your fishing licenses online ahead of time. You can get a license at: http://www.admin.adfg.state.ak.us/license/.

Medical Facilities:
The closest medical facility is in Anchorage, 80 air miles away. Guests have the responsibility to disclose any special medical, physical, or dietary needs to the lodge ahead of time.
Power and Communications:
Tordrillo Lodge provides a computer with wireless internet access, or guests can bring their own laptop. You may use their satellite phone for an additional charge.
Water:
Water at the lodge is potable.
Clothing:
As the climate is extremely changeable and a wide range of temperatures and conditions can be expected, we recommend layering clothes. Typical fishing clothing consists of synthetic long underwear, fleece jacket and pants, hooded sweatshirt, and a good fishing rain jacket. Fingerless gloves are nice for cold mornings, and bring along a warm hat for early and late season fishing. For anglers made particularly uncomfortable by biting insects, pack along a mosquito head net if visiting during the first half of the season. Dress at the lodge is neat but casual.
Laundry:
The lodge offers limited laundry service upon request.
Beverages/Alcohol:
Tordrillo Mountain Lodge offers an extensive selection of award-winning wines, as well as hard alcohol. You may pay for your bar tab at check-out with a credit card.
Tackle/Equipment List: (Note that Tordrillo provides flies and tackle)
Tackle for Rainbows:
Rods: Trout; 9-10 ft. 4-7 wt. rods
Reels: Any well-made reel with at least 100 yards of backing.
Lines: Trout; Weight forward floating lines are the norm but if you are fishing in June, July, or September bring along sinking tip lines such as the Mastery wet tip type 4, Teeny 200, or the Rio Versi-Tip in the appropriate weights.
Leaders/Tippet: Trout; 7.5-9ft tapered leaders in 2X- 4X (two each) and tippet to match.
Flies: Tordrillo provides flies to their anglers free of charge, but if you decide you’d tie or bring your own, here are some recommendations. Flesh Flies including the Morrish Medusa, cotton candy, assorted sculpin patterns #2-#4 in brown and dark olive, Morrish Mouse, egg patterns: Plastic beads in 6 to 10 millimeter diameter in various colors of pink to orange, leeches #2-#6 in brown, purple, white and black in sizes. Also bring a small selection of standard western dry flies and nymphs just in case.
Tackle for Silver Salmon:
Rods: We recommend 7 weight to 9 weight quality rods
Reels: Durable reels with a medium to strong disc drag are necessary. Spool capacity should be at least 150 yards of 20 pound backing.
Lines: A floating line along with at least one sink tip is usually best. Sink tips should be 5 feet to 15 feet with a medium to fast sink rate.
Leaders/Tippet: 10 to 15 pound monofilament.
Flies: Popsicles, pink pollywogs, assorted clouser minnows, and assorted flashy/gaudy patterns in #2-#4.
