As a guideline we recommend that each guest travels with enough cash for staff & guide gratuities.

Gratuities:
We recommend guide gratuities of approximately 10 - 15% of your package price. Gratuities can be handed directly to your guide at the end of the day.

Fishing Licenses:
Fishing licenses are not included. Licenses may be purchased at the fly shop in Klamath Falls. See itinerary for details.

Fishing licenses are also available online at the following website www.dfw.state.or.us/online_license_sales/. Anglers may prefer to purchase their licenses in advance to save time on-site. Please call Fly Water Travel if you need assistance in purchasing your license online.

Climate:
Temperatures typically range from the mid 50’s to the mid 90’s. In the summer it is usually quite warm during the day, but it can be very cold early in the morning. However, it is important for guests to be prepared for cold rainy conditions throughout the season.

Medical Facilities:
The closest medical facility is in Klamath Falls, approximately 15 minutes from the resort. Guests have the responsibility to disclose any special medical, physical, or dietary needs to the lodge ahead of time.

Power and Communications:
WiFi service is available at the resort. Check with your cell provider to determine if you will have reception in the area.

Clothing:
In the Pacific Northwest it is always possible to encounter a wide variety of weather conditions. We recommend that you always come well prepared with different layers including lightweight long sleeve and short-sleeved shirts, fleece top and bottoms, synthetic long underwear, rain jacket, sun and rain hats and fishing gloves. Evening attire at the lodge is casual.

Laundry:
Laundry is available upon request to guests during their stay. Please be prepared to pay for this service onsite.

Beverages/Alcohol:
Drinks are available in all the restaurants at Running Y.

Tackle/Equipment List:
Rods/Reels: 6wt to 7wt with a length of 9' to 10'. Trout reels require a smooth drag to keep the spool from overrunning itself and enough room for the line and 100 yards of backing.
Lines: Weight forward floating lines as well as 5-10 ft sink tips will be the lines of choice. At time both indicator and swing fishing techniques will be employed.
Leaders: 7.5 -9 ft 2x leaders are good for the nymphing. Straight 8 pound Maxima is good for the swing fishing. If you don’t have Maxima, bring 1X-3X tippet.
Flies:
Streamers: Kiwi muddlers #2-#4, Morrish Sculpin in dark olive and brown #2, large black leaches and woolly buggers.
Nymphs: Assorted stonefly and rubber leg patterns as well as a variety of dropper patterns in sizes #8-14.
Waders & Boots: Breathable waders are the most popular with varying thicknesses of synthetics layers for different conditions. Due to the extremely rugged terrain, you will be fishing exclusively from the boat and wearing life jackets. With that said, waders will be handy for keeping warm and when heading to the bank for pit stops.

Note: We recommend that your contact Roe Outfitters directly to purchase the appropriate flies for your trip. You can call them ahead of time and they will have them ready when you arrive, or you can purchase them the first morning of your trip.
