Included: Accommodations and meals at the lodge, guided fishing as noted on your invoice, ranch orientation.
Not Included: Transportation to the ranch, flies, all alcohol (BYOB), staff and guide gratuities, licenses.
Travel Logistics:
Arrival Information: To get to Yamsi Ranch, please make travel arrangements to either Klamath Falls (60 miles from the ranch) or Medford (90 miles from the ranch) and rent a car for the drive to the ranch. The ranch is approximately a seven hour drive from the Bay Area or five hours from Portland.
Getting to the Lodge: Drivers will need to make their way to the town of Chiloquin, Oregon located just east of Hwy 97 on the north end of Klamath Lake. Take the exit into Chiloquin. There will be a Shell station on your left. Turn left there onto Sprague River Road. Follow Sprague River Road for 5 miles and then turn left on Williamson Road. Follow Williamson Road for 24 miles to just past milepost 24 and turn left into the signed entrance to the Yamsi Ranch property. Head down to the main house and introduce yourself to the Hydes!
Departure Information: On your departure day you will fish the morning and then depart the ranch at noon.
Travel Cash:
As a guideline we recommend that each guest travels with approximately $200 - $300 for staff & guide gratuities. Any other expenses accrued at the lodge (gifts, flies, etc.) can be paid by credit card.
Gratuities:
We recommend gratuities of approximately 10% of your package price. This can be given to Gerda at the end of your stay. Only cash and checks are accepted.
Fishing Licenses:
Anglers must purchase licenses ahead of time. Licenses can be purchased at www.dfw.state.or.us/online_license_sales/.
Climate:
Temperatures typically range from the mid 50’s to the mid 90’s. In the summer it is usually quite warm during the day and cool in the evening. However, it is important for guests to be prepared for cold rainy conditions throughout the season.
Medical Facilities:
The closest medical facility is in Klamath Falls, approximately 1.5 hours from the lodge. Guests have the responsibility to disclose any special medical, physical, or dietary needs to the lodge ahead of time.
Power and Communications:
The lodge offers guests limited use of the phone. There is no internet access available.
Clothing:
In the Pacific Northwest it is always possible to encounter a wide variety of weather conditions. We recommend that you always come well prepared with different layers including lightweight long sleeve and short-sleeved shirts, fleece top and bottoms, synthetic long underwear, rain jacket, sun and rain hats and fishing gloves. Evening attire at the lodge is casual.
Laundry:
Laundry service is not available. Please pack accordingly.
Beverages/Alcohol:
The ranch does not provide alcohol. Guests may bring in their own.
Tackle/Equipment List:
Rods: 8-9 foot rods for 0 - 5 weight lines.
Lines: Floating lines, weight forward or double tapered. Slow sink rate tips can be used early and late in the season and intermediate lines are handy on Hyde Lake.
Reels: Any quality single action fly reel with 50 yards of 20 lb backing.
Leaders: 9 ft to 12 ft leaders in 4x - 6x. Bring additional tippet in the same diameters.
Flies: Dries: Blue Wing Olives and assorted midges#16-20, assorted hoppers and Hexaginias in #6, black drake imitations, assorted mayfly cripples and spinners. Nymphs: Dirty Birds in olive #12-16, Prince #14-18, Bird’s Nest #14-18, AP Black #14-18, Pheasant tails #14-18, Sparkle Pupae tan and green #16-18. Streamers: brown, black, and olive weighted woolley buggers in # 4-8, assorted white steamers like the zonker in #4. Note: The lodge has a good selection of appropriate flies for sale.
Waders & Boots: Lightweight breathable waders are recommended. Neoprene socks are recommended when wet wading.
Note: Stillwater anglers should bring their own float tubes and fins for Hyde Lake.
