Scotland is a country of inventors and innovators. The people have great humor and warmth, and guests from North America can enjoy a safe, inspiring and relaxing vacation. This tour gives you the opportunity to see Scotland as the locals see it, and escape the tourist traps and bus parties.

The tour will begin with a few days spent in historic Edinburgh. This will include a tour of the city and some of the less obvious delights such as historic pubs, a visit to a gothic school (the inspiration for Hogwarts in Harry Potter) and a tour highlighting the sinister side of Edinburgh. Guest will enjoy fantastic restaurants and lodging at the Bonham, a renovated Townhouse with stunning Georgian architecture.

After Edinburgh you will head south for a few days to the beautiful Borders region to stay a lovely country estate and fish a private beat of the River Tweed. With pheasants in the gardens, woodpeckers outside the window at breakfast, and 3KM of private water a few hundred yards from your accommodation, guest can fish for wild brown trout, sea trout and Atlantic salmon and grayling depending on time of year. Lunches served in the river side cabin are made lovingly from locally sourced ingredients and of course you can enjoy a dram of vitamin “W” (Malt Whisky). Those less interested in fishing can enjoy a day of pampering at the renowned Stobo Castle Health Spa, located 30 minutes from the River Tweed Lodge. Excellent pike fishing on a private lake is also available at this location.

Next guests will drive north to the stunning Cathedral town of Dunkeld on the River Tay. There guest will take a delightful walk through an ancient forest under the canopy of 200ft Douglas Fir trees and on to a huge waterfall and viewing platform. Built as a garden for the mistress of the Duke of Atholl, this is a garden paradise.  From here you cross over to the West Coast where the landscape changes and dramatic hills rise up into the clouds.  Lodging is in the Isle of Eriska a lovely hotel facing the sea on its own private island.

The following day you will tour one of the world’s iconic landscapes, used as the backdrop in movies such as Highlander and Braveheart as well as the James Bond movie Skyfall. This is Scotland at is best and you will enjoy a fantastic seafood lunch in a unique waterside restaurant, boasting the freshest seafood in Scotland. Next we will head to the Isle of Skye, where you will spend a few days soaking up the Tolkien like landscapes and scenery. Lodging in the Flodigarry Hotel, with astonishing scenery and incredible sea and mountain views. While here, agile anglers can opt to fly or spin fish fro Pollack, considered by some to be the hardest fighting in British waters.

Last but not least is a visit to the iconic Eilean Donan Castle, a classic scene from Scottish history and movies set in Scotland.
