This tour is ideal for couples that want to experience the warmth and hospitality of the Scottish people, see its most historic and beautiful places and sample a number of the country’s premier fisheries along the way. It is complete with historic cities, castles, islands surrounded with clear blue seas, lochs, spas, scotch, and of course great private beats of fly water. It is designed for private parties of 2-6 people and includes a private driver and four-star boutique accommodations.

The Hidden Gems of Scotland tour mixes just the right amount of Alba Game Fishing’s varied angling portfolio with a wealth of couples friendly sites and activities. This is a chance to see the real Scotland and sneak in several days of quality fishing along the way. This deluxe tour is ideal for couples that want the best of both worlds. Fine-tuned over 13 years and based on over 40 years of knowledge, we have created a truly memorable multi-faceted vacation package.
Scotland is a country of inventors and innovators. The people have great humor and warmth, and guests from North America can enjoy a safe, inspiring and relaxing vacation. This tour gives you the opportunity to see Scotland as the locals see it, and escape the tourist traps and bus parties.
The tour will begin with a few days spent in historic Edinburgh. This will include a tour of the city and some of the less obvious delights such as historic pubs, a visit to a gothic school (the inspiration for Hogwarts in Harry Potter) and a tour highlighting the sinister side of Edinburgh. Guest will enjoy fantastic restaurants and lodging at the Bonham, a renovated Townhouse with stunning Georgian architecture.
After Edinburgh you will head south for a few days to the beautiful Borders region to stay a lovely country estate and fish a private beat of the River Tweed. With pheasants in the gardens, woodpeckers outside the window at breakfast, and 3KM of private water a few hundred yards from your accommodation, guest can fish for wild brown trout, sea trout and Atlantic salmon and grayling depending on time of year. Lunches served in the river side cabin are made lovingly from locally sourced ingredients and of course you can enjoy a dram of vitamin “W” (Malt Whisky). Those less interested in fishing can enjoy a day of pampering at the renowned Stobo Castle Health Spa, located 30 minutes from the River Tweed Lodge. Excellent pike fishing on a private lake is also available at this location.
Next guests will drive north to the stunning Cathedral town of Dunkeld on the River Tay. There guest will take a delightful walk through an ancient forest under the canopy of 200ft Douglas Fir trees and on to a huge waterfall and viewing platform. Built as a garden for the mistress of the Duke of Atholl, this is a garden paradise. From here you cross over to the West Coast where the landscape changes and dramatic hills rise up into the clouds. Lodging is in the Isle of Eriska a lovely hotel facing the sea on its own private island.
The following day you will tour one of the world’s iconic landscapes, used as the backdrop in movies such as Highlander and Braveheart as well as the James Bond movie Skyfall. This is Scotland at is best and you will enjoy a fantastic seafood lunch in a unique waterside restaurant, boasting the freshest seafood in Scotland. Next we will head to the Isle of Skye, where you will spend a few days soaking up the Tolkien like landscapes and scenery. Lodging in the Flodigarry Hotel, with astonishing scenery and incredible sea and mountain views. While here, agile anglers can opt to fly or spin fish fro Pollack, considered by some to be the hardest fighting in British waters.
Last but not least is a visit to the iconic Eilean Donan Castle, a classic scene from Scottish history and movies set in Scotland. From the castle a drive north along the shores of Loch Ness, where you can try and spot the monster as you pass by Urquhart Castle and on to Inverness for the final night. You will lodge in a deluxe room overlooking the River Ness.
Day One: Arrive in Edinburgh, early afternoon. You will be picked up by your private guide in a Mercedes People Carrier and transferred to Bonham Hotel. Next, over coffee, you will do an overview of your itinerary with your guide and make any needed adjustments. The rest of this day would be yours to relax, settle in and get acclimated.

Day Two: Tour of Edinburgh including Holyroodhouse, old town, ghost tours, botanic gardens, the gothic school that inspired Hogwarts of Harry Potter, lunch in the Canny Mans pub, the best old pub in Edinburgh (not know to tourists). Transport in a Mercedes People Carrier, refreshments and snacks provided, driver/guide in kilt included.

Day Three: Pike fishing on a private exclusive loch near Edinburgh. Fly-fishing or spin casting from shore or boat. We will provide a delicious lunch, in a fishing cabin overlooking the loch. Stunning scenery big pike and plenty of fish. Transfer to River Tweed Lodge at the end of the day (25 mins)

Day Four: Trout fishing on River Tweed on a private stretch of water beside River Tweed Lodge. Those less interested in fishing can enjoy a day at Stobo Castle Health Spa 30 mins from Lodge.

Day Five: Depart for tour of the Highlands, starting in Dunkeld, which is the gateway to the Highlands. A short easy walk to a romantic waterfall, then on to House of Bruar, before the beautiful drive over to the West Coast at Fort William. Overnight Isle of Eriska Hotel and Spa
Day Six: Walking and photography tour of Glencoe – Lunch in Loch Leven Seafood Cafe. This is a hidden gem, serving the freshest of seafood almost straight out of the sea into the kitchen, under the shadow of the town of Glencoe. Overnight Isle of Eriska Hotel and Spa
Day Seven: Depart for Skye, via Glenfinnan monument and Kyle of Lochalsh and the bridge to Skye. Breathe in some of the most majestic scenery and landscapes, stopping for numerous photographs. This is a day of breathtaking scenery and we hope you might see red deer amidst iconic landscapes. If you are peckish, do not miss traditional fish and chips in newspaper in Kyle of Lochalsh, where they serve the freshest haddock in Scotland. Overnight Luxury guest House Dunvegan
Day Eight: Shore fishing in Skye in the sea for pollock, the hardest fighting fish in Scottish waters. In the afternoon, head to the Old Man of Stohr, soak up Tolkien-like scenery and overnight luxury guest House Dunvegan
Day Nine: Depart for Fort Augustus, tour of Eileen Donan Castle, a fully restored 13th Century castle. Al fresco lunch served outdoors in a scenic spot. Tour up the shore of Loch Ness to Urquhart Castle, for a brief stop and possible sighting of the Loch Ness monster and on up to Inverness. Overnight River Ness view room
Day Ten: Depart for 2.5 hour transfer to Edinburgh – A9 is a straight easy and safe road back to Edinburgh, a chance to see magnificent scenery en route.
