Deep Water Cay was founded in 1958 by Floridian Gil Drake and Field and Stream editor A.J. McLean as a world-class bonefishing destination. These two bonefish aficionados searched throughout the Bahamas and the Caribbean for the perfect destination. They settled on the small island off the East End of Grand Bahama because of the expansive flats, the easy access, the protection from winds and the enormous number of bonefish. Since then, Deep Water Cay has stood the test of time to become the Granddaddy of Bonefish Lodges. At Deep Water Cay you’ll find over 250 square miles of flats to fish, and you can wade or boat fish. Meals on the Cay are served at the Main Lodge and Barracuda Grill. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily utilizing the freshest local ingredients. Our fish, conch and lobster (Lobster season August 1 to March 30) are caught and prepared daily.
