For those with a passion for swinging flies with two handed or single hand rods, the dates below offer an incredible experience at one of our favorite lodges. Brad Waitman has three decades of experience in Alaska. Brad choose his lodge’s location based on the fantastic home-water, harboring the largest of Alaska rainbow trout, along with short flight times to Katmai Park and the most productive king salmon fishery in the world, the Nushagak. His hands on approach, knowledge and passion for sharing the best of Alaska are big reason’s why this operation consistently receives the highest praise from the guests we send here. June is the time when massive amounts of out-migrating smolt pass by Brad’s front door. With this, the monster Iliamna lake run rainbow trout stack up and ambush these unsuspecting young salmon with reckless abandon. This is much like steelhead fishing, except with lots of opportunities and connections. Its amazing to feel the tug of these incredible fish and get years of practical “steelhead” experience in just a handful of days. Along with the amazing home river steelhead-like fishing, Brad enjoys flying to the Nushagak where his 30 years of knowledge gets his guests in front of the mighty king salmon. While the “Nush” is a large river requiring some big casts from shore, Brad knows where to be and when based on the tides and water conditions. Of course if you prefer to target smaller trout streams with single hand rods on the fly outs days, the famous waters of Katmai Park are just a short flight away.
