This fall we have limited availability to combine a trip to the Taimen Camps or the Onon River with one of the most interesting festivals in the country.  The Golden Eagle Festival.

Mongolia Taimen Camps and Wilderness Floats
Mongolia is a wild, unbroken land reminiscent of Montana and the American West before settlement. Here you will find some of the world’s largest remaining tracts of true wilderness, rich with clear, free-flowing rivers and vast golden forests of birch, aspen, larch and alder. You will also find the world’s largest salmonoid, the taimen.  Over the years the trip to Mongolia has proven to be a wonderfully rewarding experience, not only for the fishing but for the landscape and the people as well.

Golden Eagle Festival

Living in the shadow of the majestic Altai Mountains, the Kazakhs of western Mongolia survive much as they have for centuries. They move seasonally in search of good animal pasture, maintaining one of the world’s last enduring horse-based nomadic cultures, and they hunt with trained golden eagles. On this trip we accompany Kazakh friends on an eagle hunt and join them at their annual Golden Eagle Festival to watch as they celebrate the enduring tradition. We sample the region’s stunning natural beauty, from sweeping deserts to forested valleys and spectacular snowcapped peaks.
