Fishing Bear Lodge
Experience the gem of Alaska on a women’s only trip hosted by Kia Johns of Fishing Bear Lodge and Alaska Fly Fishing Goods. Whether you’re new to fly fishing or an experienced angler, you’ll enjoy six full days of guided fishing and activities on pristine waters with other women who share your same passion! Kia Johns has over 26 years of fishing experience in the Wood-Tickchik state park, Alaska. Growing up at a fishing lodge, she had a fly-rod in her hand before she could walk. An alum of Montana State University, she spent the majority of her college years fishing the Madison, Yellowstone and Gallatin Rivers between classes. She loves fishing with other women and sharing her passion of the sport.

Itinerary

August 9:
Depart home and arrive Dillingham, Alaska. Overnight at the Beaver Creek B&B (independently arranged, not included). Beaver Creek B&B will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the accommodations.

August 10:
Fly into Fishing Bear lodge via float plane mid-morning. After settling in, meeting the other women and eating a warm lunch, get ready to fish! Gear up and head to the boats for a full day of fly-fishing. After getting a taste of your new stomping grounds, a lovely dinner will be waiting for you at the lodge complete with a mouthwatering salad from the lodge’s extensive green-house.

​August 11 – 15:
After eating a hot breakfast and getting your fill of coffee or tea, you’ll meet your guide and go fishing for the day. Boats will be stocked with a hearty lunch and snacks, so you can fish happily all day. After a full day of fishing or activities, you’ll enjoy swapping stories with the other ladies while you sip your favorite beverage. A family-style dinner will be served to keep your energy up for fishing.

August 16:
Grab a cup of coffee or some breakfast goodies from the continental breakfast bar, put your bags on your cabin’s porch and say your goodbyes. A float plane will pick you up mid-morning.


Other Activities

Kayaking:
Float down the gentle Peace River and take in the pristine scenery while watching fish jump and birds fly by. Keep your eye out for moose and bears, a constant in this area.

​Photography:
Fishing Bear Lodge is located in the gem of Alaska, with incredibly sharp and wild mountains surrounding the lodge and an abundance of wildlife, you’ll never need to put that camera down.

Hiking:
Enjoy hiking along the lakeside or even take a more adventurous trek up hillsides to get a better view of the landscape.

​Yoga:
Your host, Kia Johns, is a certified yoga instructor. There will be (optional) short yoga classes pre or post fishing. Weather permitting. No mat needed.

​Snorkeling/Swimming:
Not for the faint of heart (the water is cold) but for you ladies who want to see fish up close and personal, throw a mask in your pack and let’s float the river to see these beautiful fish in their natural habitat!


Lodge dates: August 10 – 16

Available space: 8 anglers

Rate: $4,250 per person for a 6 night/6 day package

Included: Accommodations and meals at the lodge, guided fishing, airport meet and greet in Dillingham, ground transportation in Dillingham, fly fishing rods, reels, flies, leaders, tippets, etc.
Not Included: Round trip airfare to Dillingham, round trip float plane flight from Dillingham to lodge (approximately $500 per person), accommodations and meals in Dillingham, alcohol, staff and guide gratuities, fishing license, sleeping bag (or sheets), towel.
