Rex Bryngelson is one of those early pioneers who came to Chile in search of whitewater and adventure and ended up finding incomparable rivers, a sense of place, true love and his life’s work in fly fishing hospitality and guiding. The end result is La Posada de los Farios (The Inn of the Brown Trout), located on the banks of the Rio Cisnes, two and ½ hours north of Coyhaique. This diverse area offers fly fishing anglers wading and floating options on multiple rivers, streams, and lakes in the Patagonia region coupled with a particularly intimate and inviting lodge experience. This is the perfect combination for serious anglers and guests who want to experience Patagonia at its best.
Widely considered the heart of Chile’s greatest trout fishing region, the fly fishing options at La Posada de los Farios are nearly endless — productive floats on the Rio Cisnes from the farmhouse’s front door, fly fishing hidden lagunas and spring creek tributaries, seldom-fished high country lakes and excursions into the coastal fjords for Pacific salmon and sea-run rainbow trout are all on the table. With the beautiful Queulat National Park just to the north, non-anglers can enjoy activities such as hiking, horseback riding, river rafting, bird watching, excursions into nearby wilderness areas, in addition to cultural visits to neighboring farms and villages. For hardcore anglers as well as game non-anglers in search of the unfiltered rewards of real rural Chile, La Posada de los Farios has repeatedly won the praise of our staff and clients.
