Lower Deschutes River Multi-Day Float Trips

If you are still looking to get your steelhead fix this Fall, don’t look past Oregon’s Deschutes River. There is good reason that this is the state’s best known river–it is a desert oasis rife with hearty steelhead, wild rainbow trout, stunning scenery and some of the most seductive water in the west. Early projections for this year’s steelhead returns were grim, but many have been pleasantly surprised by the considerably good fishing that has been the norm these past few months on the Deschutes (some of the photos below are from the past week). With over 100 miles of navigable water, all of which present the opportunity at a strong wild steelhead on the swung fly or an 18 inch rainbow on a Blue Winged Olive dry fly this time of year, the Deschutes is simply a fall favorite of ours. While late Fall presents shorter and typically colder days, dedicated anglers are still often rewarded with good fishing. Propane heaters, fires and hot, hearty meals in camp serve to keep anglers comfortable in the evenings and early mornings. Float trips can be 2 nights/3 days, 3 nights/4 days, or 4 nights/5 days. “Dillon and Neal are probably the two hardest working guides I’ve ever had the privilege of fishing with. Tim set up an awesome camp with great food. I have nothing but high marks for great attitudes, insanely long work days, local knowledge, and all round good people. I would love to fish with them again.” – Tim U.

“Dillon Renton was great. I think it was the best all around guided experience I have had.” – Darren R.

“Really conscientious and hard working outfit. These guys are amazing.” – Dan K.

“Renton Outfitters was an awesome experience on the Deschutes River. I learned even more about reading the river and some casting improvements. The Renton family do a great job with their business. I had a blast and the food was delicious too.” – Crytal G.
