Winter steelhead season is just around the corner! Now is the time to secure your dates during a limited window of opportunity. We are fortunate to have developed special relationships with some wonderful outfitters in our home state that dedicate their winter months to pursuing some of the biggest and brightest steelhead around. While winter steelheading presents unique challenges with weather, cold water and changing river levels, the outfitters we work with are some of the most knowledgeable and experienced around, and a day spent with them is full of education, adventure and often times success. Below you will see available dates with a few of our favorite Oregon winter steelhead outfitters for the upcoming season.

Umpqua Winter Basceamp, Oregon
The Umpqua is a true gem and one of the most beautiful steelhead systems in the world. There are more trophy steelhead swimming in these waters than any other river in Oregon. The Umpqua Winter Basecamp program can incorporate multiple tactics and days can be spent either wading while swinging flies, fishing from the boat with indicators or mixing both in the same day. This is a great program for all skill levels. Guests stay in a riverside house along with your guides, allowing close access to the fishing grounds. It is an all inclusive package with single rooms and delicious home-cooked meals. The programs takes 2 to 4 anglers per trip. The typical package is a 3 night/3 day stay but extended packages can be accommodated depending on availability.

Rate: $2,250 per person based on double occupancy

Oregon Coast w/ Scott O’Donnell
The northern Oregon coast has many rivers that harbor winter steelhead and we have long been paired with one of the most experienced and knowledgeable steelhead guides in the industry. Scott O’Donnell has three decades of guiding experience, two of which have been spent in the winter on Oregon’s northern coast chasing winter steelhead. Scott offers day trips with guests staying in independently arranged accommodations in and around the communities of Manzanita, Cannon Beach and Tillamook. Along with Scott’s extensive understanding of Oregon’s rivers and fish, he is a pioneer and leader in the world of spey casting. His influence on today’s skagit lines and tips have changed the way anglers target these winter fish and have helped many succeed in a season that had long been looked at as the most challenging. Scott has an uncanny ability to help and teach folks to become better anglers and casters. He simply gives the clients in his boat the best shot at connecting with one of these special creatures.

Rate: $600 per day for 1 or 2 anglers

Clackamas River Lodge, Oregon
The Clackamas River Lodge is another fantastic all-inclusive Winter/Spring steelhead experience. The river’s classic and seductive water along with its chrome bright steelhead are all conveniently close to the Portland Airport. It is a swing fisherman’s paradise and runs are accessed both up and downstream of the lodge via jet boat. The small group size of 4 anglers make for an intimate trip and the staff is on hand to take care of every detail. A beautiful and modern riverfront lodge is very comfortable and even offers cell service and wi-fi. Each guest will sleep in a private bedroom with a queen bed. The bathrooms are shared with the group. There is a comfortable living area where a good fireside story can be told to all. All meals are prepared by an award-winning chef.

Rate: $2,570 per person for a 4 night/4 day package
