Estancia La Limay is one of only two lodges on the remarkable Limay River. A large, crystal-clear desert gem, the Limay is home to some of Patagonia’s largest rainbows and browns. Anglers fish the river from drift boats throwing dries and steamers for numerous resident fish in the 18 to 22-inch class. As the season progresses, guests have an ever increasing number at shots at the Limay’s famous migratory browns, some of which exceed 30 inches. In addition to private put ins and take outs, assuring lots of privacy on the water, guests at the estancia enjoy the highest level of service and amenities. Estancia La Limay is limited to eight guests per week and pairs perfectly with a week at the elegant Patagonia River Ranch or as a short stand-alone destination.
Location: Our 16,000-acre private ranch is located on the banks of the Rio Limay Medio, a few miles above where the river empties into Ezequiel Ramos Mejia lake. The ranch is a 1.5 hour drive from Neuquén City and 3 hours from Bariloche or San Martín de los Andes.
Fishing Program: Estancia La Limay’s fishing program is centered around fishing several large beats of the middle section of the Limay (Rio Limay Medio). Guests float in custom drift boats or NRS rafts with skilled English speaking Argentine guides. The section of the river upon which the lodge concentrates is very hard for the public to access making the presence of other anglers a true rarity. This section of the Limay is very large and there are lots of interesting side channels and braids which are like great rivers in their own right. The vast majority of the fishing is done from boat but at time guest will be able to wade select riffle and runs. Dry fly fishing, nymph fishing and streamer fish are effective.

The lodge has four well-appointed guest rooms, and an all-Argentine staff including two professional chefs, four guides and two ranch hostesses. The lodge prides itself on exception food, wine and service.
