The Garbutt brother’s fishing lodge is located in the small village of Punta Gorda near Belize’s southern border with Guatemala. Scully, Eworth and Oliver Garbutt are master permit hunters and focus on the prolific waters of the Port Honduras Marine Reserve. This rich, 847 square kilometer network of lagoons, islands, reefs and flats provide for some of the most diverse and little pressured permit grounds found anywhere in the world.
The brothers Garbutt remain some of the most experienced, professional and skilled permit guides found anywhere on the planet. Every day spent in their boat is an education and if you’re keen to target permit on the fly, this is the place. Scully, Eworth and Oliver Garbutt are fourth generation Punta Gorda fisherman and the first to transition from commercial fishing to recreational fishing. They are true professionals on the water and focus on the fertile and permit rich waters of the Port Honduras Marine Reserve.
The brothers utilize spacious purpose built fly fishing skiffs for poling the shallow water margins of a vast area in the reserve comprising some 135 small cays. As well as an extensive mangrove lagoon and estuary system that offers protection from the wind and numerous crab hole pocked flats that offer shallow water opportunities for tailing fish.
