On the lower end of the Alaskan Peninsula's remote and prolific Sandy River there is a new camp catering to serious steelhead and king salmon anglers. This cozy compact lodge caters to six anglers in small double occupancy rooms and offers great meals and guiding. Anglers fish two per jet boat and swing fish the ever-rich easy wading runs of the incomparable Sandy River. For those happy to trade in the white tablecloth for a chance at some of Alaska's brightest and most abundant sea-run species this may well be your place.
Hoodoo's Sandy River Lodge is located on the Alaska Peninsula
Hoodoo's Sandy River Lodge is located on the lower Sandy River, close to tidewater and the freshest of the anadramous fishes. Guests will fish two anglers per guide, using their custom made jet boats to access the many easily waded runs. Anglers meet the guides after breakfast on the riverbanks and set out for a full day of fishing. A warm and hearty lunch will be served riverside by your guide. The river lends itself to the swung fly and two handed rods. While not overly large, its easily waded and covered well with a decent spey cast. The fish tend to be aggressive and numerous. While the weather can be unpredictable the fish tend to be eager and cooperative. Anglers typically return to the lodge about 5:00 PM, in time for appetizers and then dinner.
