Overview

Cosmoledo Atoll is unquestionably one of the best destinations to fly fish for giant trevally in the world, and it has become the benchmark for anglers in search of the epic flats fishing experience. “Cosmo” is a large, untouched ecosystem whose white sand flats, lagoons, and channels are ruled by pugnacious packs of giant trevally. However, these fish are not the only species that can be found here in impressive numbers. Big bonefish, bluefin trevally, bohar snapper, barracuda, milkfish, finicky Indo-Pacific permit and a host of triggerfish species all call Cosmoledo home. Hit this trip right and it is as good as saltwater fishing can be!

Cosmoledo is truly an angler’s paradise of incomprehensible proportions. The ecosystem is pristine and untouched, and the encounters experienced are proof of how remote and preserved this magnificent atoll is. The wildlife on Cosmoledo is incredibly unique and various species of birds, turtles and lizards are not found elsewhere. The reefs are spectacular and offer some of the best diving in Seychelles. The lodge is also fully equipped with snorkeling and dive gear as well as stand up paddle boards and kayaks that are available for all guests to use.

Fishing Program

Catering to limited groups of ten anglers per week, this large atoll measures 17 kilometers in length. The perimeter of the atoll is covered with vast sand flats dotted with islands of various shapes and sizes, and the interior lagoon has numerous hard, white, pancake flats all perfect for wading. There are multiple entrances to the inner lagoon; the South Island sits near the main entrance, while the second, smaller entrance is just south of Menai. Anglers fish two per boat from five purpose-built mini-skiffs and are guided by members of the seasoned, English-speaking guide team.

In addition to the flats, the deep water begins very close to shore at Cosmoledo making it possible to access the impressively productive fishery for barracuda, wahoo, yellowfin and dogtooth tuna, sailfish, and the occasional striped marlin.

Accommodations

Cosmoledo lodge is a simple structure in the wilds of Wizard Island. The lodge consists of eight en-suite cottages complete with air conditioning, a front veranda with a seating area, and a well-appointed outdoor shower. The wonderfully situated dining, bar and entertainment area is a large safari tent with bare sand floors. The chef prepares a mix of Creole and international dishes and incorporates fresh fish daily, with fruit and vegetables that are grown on nearby Alphonse Island.
